Our Story

At Off Grid Customs, we started our journey with a focus on custom van conversions, where we built a solid reputation by delivering a wide range of high-quality builds tailored to our clients’ needs. Drawing on this experience, we expanded into composite truck campers, using the same principles that guided our success in van conversions.

As demand grew, we began receiving requests for various sizes of composite campers and expedition bodies. To meet these needs, we focused on sourcing the best materials, ensuring that our products are durable, lightweight, and well-insulated. All of our composite panels are Canadian-made, utilizing all FRP and non-organic materials, making them ideal for 4-season use with condensation-free performance. Additionally, this allows us to offer short lead times to get our products into the hands of our customers efficiently.

We understand the specific requirements of overland builders, which is why we are now dedicated exclusively to box production. Our extensive experience as builders allows us to provide technical support and detailed information to DIYers and other builders, setting them up to outfit their projects with confidence. We also offer detailed CAD drawings to ensure our customers have the precise tools they need to succeed.

Our leadership team has decades of experience in vehicle customization and composite manufacturing, enabling us to stay focused on providing reliable products and solutions. Our History

  • 2018

     

    The Beginning

    Our story started with a passion project. Allan, OGC’s owner, took his background in the marine and automotive industries and began converting a promaster van into a home on wheels in his friend’s driveway.

  • 2019

     

    Turning Passion into Business

    Before our first project was even complete, word spread and friends of friends began requesting custom van conversions. Brad joined with a background in low voltage electrical and we moved into a small storage unit to complete these builds. During this time, we also converted a van for a popular YouTuber, which significantly boosted our visibility and popularity!

  • 2020

     

    Growth & Rebranding

    With a steady line of vans waiting for conversion, we realized it was time to expand. We moved into a proper shop and rebranded as OFF GRID CUSTOMS, with a long-term vision to tackle more challenging overlander builds in addition to the van conversions.

  • 2022

     

    Expanding into Composite Campers

    We partnered with a Composites supplier to adapt our van-building expertise to composite camper shells. This marked the beginning of our foray into creating durable, high-performance campers.

  • 2023

     

    High-Profile Projects and Recognition

    After successfully building many vans and campers, we were contracted by Arctic Trucks for a specialized build designed for an expedition from the North Pole to Antarctica. The success of this project led to increased demand for larger chassis builds and composite boxes. This solidified us as a company that can work with a wide range of chassis and sizes.

    Focus on Composite Box Production

    We partnered with Cascadia Composites to provide high-quality, Canadian-made composite panels. After years of crafting custom turn-key builds, we decided to take our experience and focus exclusively on one important aspect- the composite box assembly. We have doubled our shop space with a focus on streamlining and commoditizing these high quality, custom composite camper shells to supply DIYers and OEM manufacturers internationally!
